Madrid (dpa) - Italian club AC Milan are not only interested in Antonio Cassano but also in his Real Madrid team-mate Sergio Ramos, Spanish and Italian news reports said on Friday.

This interest could worsen relations between Milan and Real Madrid - but might also be an opportunity for ending the tension between them.

This tension started in July when Ramon Calderon won the presidential elections at Real partly by promising to snatch Brazilian playmaker Kaka away from Milan, a promise which enfuriated the Italians.

Now Milan reportedly want to secure the services of Antonio Cassano on a six-month loan deal, with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

Cassano's future is uncertain. Some reports suggest the 24-year-old is keen to leave Real in the January transfer window, though his agent insists he will stay in Madrid.

Milan remain hopeful a deal can be struck, but have ruled out any talk of Kaka going in the opposite direction.

Madrid sports dailies Marca and AS claimed on Friday that Milan are now interested in Real defender Sergio Ramos as well.

AS states that Rene Ramos, the brother and agent of the Spain defender, has met with representatives of Milan, who have offered the player a lucrative five-year contract.

Ramos, then 19 years of age, joined Real from Sevilla in August 2005 for 30 million euros (39.4 million dollars), a world record fee for a teenager. // © 2006 DPA
