AC Milan striker Borriello fails anti-doping test
AC Milan striker Marco Borriello has been suspended after failing an anti-doping test, Italian National Olympics Committee (CONI) officials confirmed Friday.
"Borriello was tested positive and is now suspended. He has 15 days to file an appeal," a CONI spokesman told Deutsche Presse- Agentur dpa.
His Serie A club acknowledged his suspension, but said in a statement it was certain "that the matter will be resolved in the best possible way."
Officials at CONI's anti-doping laboratory found traces of a banned steroid hormone in Borriello's urine after a November 11 match against Roma, which Milan lost 2-1.

Borriello will certainly miss Saturday's game at Udinese and risks a lengthy ban, should the results be confirmed.
According to unconfirmed reports, his suspension could undermine Milan's bid to snatch Udinese striker Vincenzo Iaquinta in the January transfer market as Milan had planned to swap Borriello with the Italy international. // © 2006 DPA
