Chicago teen dies after basketball game
CHICAGO, Jan. 24 (UPI) -- An autopsy was scheduled Wednesday for an 18-year-old Chicago high school basketball player who collapsed and died after a game.
Chicago Police Capt. Edward Lenti said Darius Gordon "began breathing heavily and went into convulsions and then collapsed on the floor about five minutes after the game" Tuesday night, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Gordon did not respond to cardiopulmonary resuscitation by paramedics and was pronounced dead at Resurrection Medical Center, a Cook County, Ill., medical examiner's spokeswoman said.
There was no immediate indication of Gordon's medical history and detectives were conducting a death investigation Wednesday, the newspaper said. // © Copyright 2007 United Press International
