Moldova won the first match under new coach Gabi Balint (Romania). In a friendly match, Moldovans defeated Kazakhstan thanks to a goal by midfielder Alexandru Epureanu (min.65), who plays for Dynamo Moscow.
Kazakhstan attempted to make a late rally but any chance they may have had disappeared when Aktobe midfielder Yuri Logvinenko received a red card with 15 minutes remaining.
The game took place at the Ataturk Stadium in Antalya, Turkey.
