LA Galaxy is waiting for David Beckham
Moldova.ORG -- Los Angeles Galaxy say they will wait until August for David Beckham to join them amid speculation that the former England captain could leave Real Madrid before his contract expires, informs AP.
Boss Fabio Capello revealed on Saturday that Beckham will never play for his Spanish giants again after he agreed a record-breaking £128 million five-year deal to play Major League Soccer (MLS).
There is much speculation that the 31-year-old former Manchester United star could move Stateside ahead of schedule, but LA Galaxy general manager Alexi Lalas says his club is prepared to wait for Beckham's services until the end of his Real Madrid contract.
Lalas said: "Our position is unchanged with regards to David Beckham. We look forward to welcoming him in the summer and we respect his chance to honour his contract with Real Madrid.
"All our plans are that we will welcome David here in the summer. It would not be proper for an official from another club to comment on his situation in this context. We've made a point of letting him focus his attention and letting him focus on his team."
Lalas has also reiterated his club's belief that Beckham's megabucks transfer is just as much about footballing ability as the former England captain's star quality.
