LeBron James Dunks From Near Free Throw Line
LeBron James' dunk from the free throw line has become the talk of the NBA and got record hits on YouTube (3.4 million in less than 24 hours). James scored 41 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Milwaukee Buck 99-93, marking the third time in four game that he has scored 41 points.
LeBron James did it with a steal and soaring dunk in the final minutes on the Tuesday night game (Nov. 11).
Footage of what might be LeBron James dunking from the free throw line in an actual game shows that he was one or two steps over the free throw line when he took off for that dunk. Still it is remarcable.
Free throw line dunks were once the domain of slam dunk contests. Julius "Dr. J" Erving was the first to dunk from the free throw line in the 1976 ABA Slam Sunk contest. Michael Jordan electrified crowds with a free throw line dunk in the 1988 Slam Dunk contest. In those contests, however, players would get a huge running start and didn't have players defending them. James managed to pull off the dunk in the flow of a game, making it all very impressive.
