Levet holds his Spanish Open lead
France's Thomas Levet shot just 1-under-par 71 Saturday but maintained his lead after three rounds of the Spanish Open at Girona, Spain.
His 54-hole total, 14-under 202, is two strokes better than England's Stuart Davis (67).
He started the round up by two strokes, led by four, but bogeyed the 16th, creating an opening for Davis's late charge.
Every time I got it going, I made a stupid mistake like three-putting,
the Frenchman told reporters. I could have gone two or three shots more ahead, but some guys went way over par so I am pretty happy.
The four-time European Tour winner has his work cut out for Sunday because in four previous tournaments with the lead after 54 holes, his lone victory came at the 1998 Cannes Open.
Defending champion Peter Lawrie of Ireland shot 1-under 71 and his 11-under 205 is good for third place.
