Livingston traded, waived on same day
Miami guard Shaun Livingston, whose once promising career was derailed by a severe knee injury two years ago, found himself out of a job Wednesday.
The Heat traded Livingston to Memphis, which promptly put him on waivers. The Grizzlies also received cash considerations to be a part of the deal and Memphis sent Miami a second-round pick in the 2012 draft.
If Livingston had remained with the Heat past Wednesday, they would have had to pay him for the entire season.
Livingston chose not to attend college because of his high standing among professional scouts and he was the fourth pick in the 2004 draft by the Los Angeles Clippers.
He was in his third season with Los Angeles when he suffered significant ligament damage during a game against Charlotte.
Livingston did not play during the 2007-08 campaign and was signed by Miami prior to the start of this season. He played in four games before Wednesday's trade.
