Marbury's father dies after game
The father of New York Knicks' point guard Stephon Marbury died after leaving his son's Madison Square Garden basketball game, reportedly with chest pains.
No immediate cause of death was reported for Don Marbury Sr., who was taken by ambulance from the arena, the New York Times reported. Team officials closed the Knicks' locker room for 25 minutes after the team's 115-104 loss to the Phoenix Suns, allowing Marbury to leave before media entered.
It was the third recent close death for Marbury, whose early coach, Robert Williams, died Nov. 13. Marbury's aunt, Helen Thomas, also died on Nov. 19. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
