MLB: San Francisco 3, Colorado 2
Brian Wilson came on to record a bases-loaded strikeout to end an eighth-inning threat Friday and preserve the San Francisco Giants' 3-2 win over Colorado.
The Giants took a 3-0 lead into the eighth thanks to a tremendous performance by starter Randy Johnson (2-2). He went seven scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and striking out nine.
Bob Howry came on to relieve Johnson in the eighth and immediately gave up a home run to Chris Iannetta.
Affeldt replaced Howry and eventually allowed a run, and had runners on first and second with two out before giving way to Wilson.
Wilson allowed an infield single to Garrett Atkins that loaded the bases, but then struck out Ryan Spilborghs on a 3-2 pitch to end the inning. Wilson stayed on to work the ninth and picked up his sixth save.
The loss went to Ubaldo Jimenez (1-4), who was touched for three runs on five hits in seven innings.
Two of the San Francisco runs came on sacrifice fly balls by Bengie Molina in the third and Randy Winn in the seventh.
