MSL: Colorado 1, Chivas USA 1 (draw)
Colin Clark’s late goal Sunday put the Colorado Rapids on the brink of making the Major Soccer League playoffs with a 1-1 draw against Chivas USA.
The tie put Colorado just one point away from the final playoff berth with five matches to play, while Chivas missed a chance to make the playoffs, which it could have done with a victory.
Sacha Kljestan scored on a penalty kick in the 13th minute to give Chivas a 1-0 lead. The penalty kick was awarded after Facundo Erpen was given a red card for a rough tackle on Lauren Merlin. The resulting goal was the Kljestan’s fourth of the year.
Colorado tied the score five minutes into the second half when Clark chipped the ball over the head of Chivas goaltender Brad Guzan.
