Pessimism continues amongst Real Madrid fans
Madrid (dpa) - Real Madrid fans continue to be pessimistic about the condition of their ageing team.
That's the conclusion which has to be extrapolated from an online poll conducted by sports daily Marca.
Marca readers are asked to give a yes/no answer to the question "Do you agree with (Real coach) Fabio Capello when he says that the team is now in conditions to win trophies?"
Between Sunday and Wednesday afternoon the poll had received 13,569 answers, 58.9 per cent of which were negative, with just 41.1 per cent positive.
Most fans appear to be unhappy with the "Italian" style of play imposed on Real by Capello, and most home matches normally finish with more jeers than cheers.
Saturday's 2-1 defeat away to tough Sevilla has left Real third in "La Liga", four points behind leaders Barcelona and two behind second-placed Sevilla.
Real are currently negotiating the signing of young Argentines Fernando Gago and Gonzalo Higuain, whom they hope to present to the media next week. // © 2006 DPA
