Rose makes move into golf's Top 10

Justin Rose's victory at the Volvo Masters locked up the European Tour's Order of Merit and also moved him into the men's world golf rankings Top 10.

Rose had the Order of Merit title clinched Sunday when he qualified for a sudden-death playoff at the Volvo Masters. But winning the playoff allowed him to jump five spots in the world rankings to No. 7.

The top six rankings were static this week, with Tiger Woods still on top of the list followed by Phil Mickelson and Jim Furyk. Ernie Els is fourth, Steve Stricker fifth and Adam Scott held on to sixth.

After Rose comes Padraig Harrington and Rory Sabbatini, who were each knocked down one spot to eighth and ninth, respectively. Vijay Singh, who was second in a tournament in Singapore, moved from 13th to 10th.

Stephen Ames won the final PGA Tour event of the year and climbed 19 spots to 30th.  // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
