Sport dance band Codreanca wins silver of World Championships at standard dance event
The sport dance ensemble Codreanca Chisinau of Moldova was nominated Sunday world vice champion of the standard dance event in Moscow.
Contacted by BASA to comment this new success of the Moldovan club, the chairman of the Moldovan Sport Dance Federation, Petru Gozun, said that the dispute for the first place with the Russian team Vera Tyumen was balanced, strong, with equal chances for both competitors, but referees have finally decided to award victory to hosts. "It was very hard to demonstrate like at the 2006 European Championship in Chisinau that we are the best. Although we did not rank the 1st place this time, I am satisfied with evolutions of all members of the ensemble," he noted.
According to Gozun, it is very important that Moldova succeeded to the World Championship final with the secondary team of Codreanca for the first time. "It did not rank a leading place, but the participation of two teams in the final demonstrated one more time the potential of Moldovan sport dances, the fact that we have a strong base that allows us to look ahead to future important international competitions with much optimism," Gozun added.
Codreanca club became European sport dance champion of standard dances in 1998, 2000-2003 and 2006 and world champion in 1997, 2000-2003. // BASA-Press
