Milan (dpa) - Beleaguered giants AC Milan are looking to beef up their squad with Lazio defender Massimo Oddo and young Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Montolivo, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported Wednesday.

Milan, burdened with an eight-point penalty for their involvement in a match-fixing scandal handed down in the summer, are struggling in the lower reaches of the Serie A with 13 points from 15 games.

Oddo has apparently been offered a contract worth 2.2 million euros (2.9 million dollars) per season and he could possibly move in the January transfer market.

The defender earns 1 million euros less at Lazio, where his contract expires in 2007.

"I would like to remain longer at Lazio," the team captain was quoted as saying," but I am 30 and, most likely, the next will be my last contract. Therefore I have to think carefully before signing a new one."

Montolivo, 21, is a key play maker with Fiorentina and with Italy's youth team. His contract with the Florence club runs until 2011, but Milan could snatch him earlier for about 10 million euros (13 million dollars).

Fiorentina were penalised by 15 points and lie two points below Milan ahead of the clash between the sides set for Saturday in Florence.

According to Spanish daily AS, one man who could be on his his way out of Milan is Brazil's Kaka.

As reported Wednesday that Real Madrid are ready to offer Milan 60 million euros (78 million dollars) for the star midfielder who appears set on leaving Milan if they do not qualify for next season's Champions League.

The Devils could then use the amount to try and snatch Brazil's ace Ronaldinho from Barcelona. // © 2006 DPA
