Thomas Levet shot a 4-under-par 68 Sunday to secure a two-stroke victory at the Spanish Open golf tournament in Girona, Spain.

The Frenchman's 72-hole total, 18-under 270, beat unheralded Fabrizio Zanotti (65) of Paraguay and gave him a fifth European Tour tournament title.

His day began ominously after his two-stroke advantage was erased quickly by playing partner Stuart Davis, who birdied his first two holes.

Levet made bogey at No. 2 and suddenly Davis had a one-shot edge.

When I won the tournament, I thought of Seve (Ballasteros), Levet told reporters.

Ballasteros is battling brain cancer.

I dedicate it to you, Seve, Levet said. He's having a hard time at the moment. He was one of my heroes as a kid.

Defending champion Peter Lawrie (69) of Ireland and Denmark's Thomas Bjorn (66) finished 14-under 274 to share third place.

Davis shot 6-over 78 and his 6-under 282 left him in a tie for 15th place.
