Zimbru Chisinau and Nistru Otaci to play in finals of Moldova Football Cup
Zimbru Chisinau and Nistru Otaci will play in the finals of the Moldova Football Cup this year. The match will be played at Zimbru Complex on May 9.
On Monday, Nistru was promoted in the decisive phase of the competition, after it beat 2-1 FC Tiraspol. The Otaci team's goals were scored by Mamadu (29) and Taranu (58). The Tiraspol players' point was scored by Cingvo (75). The tour game ended with the score 1-0 in favor of the Nistru team.
On Sunday, Zimbru qualified for the finals of the Moldova Cup, after it ended in a draw (1-1) the return match versus Sheriff Tiraspol.
The tour match ended with the score 2-1 in favor of the "Zimbru" players.
Zimbru has qualified for the finals of the Moldova Cup for the seventh time. It won four of these matches.
Nistru was promoted in the decisive phase of the competition eight times. It won the trophy only once.
The match on May 9 will be the third between these finalists. In the finals in 1997 and 2003, the games ended in draws (0-0). Chisinau players won only after the 11 m shots. // BASA-Press
