UPI NewsTrack SportsWIMBLEDON, England, June 27 (UPI) -- World No. 1 Ana Ivanovic was defeated in straight sets Friday by Jie Zheng in third-round play at The Championships at Wimbledon. Ivanovic, a finalist at the 2008 Australian Open and the winner at the French Open, was routed, 6-1, 6-4. Ivanovic barely survived a tough match in the second round but was dominated by the 133rd-ranked Zheng. Zheng moves into Wimbledon's fourth round and a match against 15th-seeded Agnes Szavay, who was a 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 6-2 winner over Anabel Medina Garrigues in her third-round match. The fourth round will pair two Americans against each other as Bethanie Mattek upset 11th-seeded Marion Bartoli, 6-4, 6-1. That gave her a shot at sixth-seeded Serena Williams, who was a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 winner Friday over No. 29-seeded Amelie Mauresmo. Both Bartoli and Mauresmo were hampered in the second sets by injury. No. 4-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova and eighth-seeded Anna Chakvetadze were straight-set, third-round winners. Kuznetsova breezed past Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, 6-2, 6-4, and Chakvetadze was 6-4, 6-3 winner over Evgeniya Rodina. Also Friday, 14th-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska took out Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 6-3, 6-2, and No. 18 Nicole Vaidisova defeated Casey Dellacqua, 6-2, 6-4. WIMBLEDON, England, June 27 (UPI) -- Mario Ancic beat No. 5-seeded David Ferrer in four sets Friday, adding to the high-profile upsets in the men's draw of The Championships at Wimbledon. With half the third round still to be played, just three -- No. 1 Roger Federer, No. 2 Rafael Nadal and No. 8 Richard Gasquet -- of the top nine men's seeds remain. Nadal and Gasquet play third-round matches Saturday. Ancic took a spirited 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-3) match from Ferrer. The world No. 5 was down two sets but battled gamely and took the third set in a tiebreaker. He forced another tiebreaker in the fourth set but Ancic quickly established control and was able to put the match away. Federer, looking for a sixth consecutive Wimbledon title, was workmanlike in a 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 win over Marc Gicquel in his third-round match. He heads into a round-of-16 pairings against 20th-seeded Lleyton Hewitt, who took out Simone Bolelli, 6-1, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), in the third round. NEW YORK, June 27 (UPI) -- O.J. Mayo and Kevin Love, two of the top picks in this year's NBA draft, are part of an eight-player trade between Minnesota and Memphis. Mayo, a 6-foot-5 inch guard for Southern California and the third overall selection by the Timberwolves, was dealt to the Grizzlies with guards Marko Jaric and Greg Buckner and forward Antoine Walker. Love, a 6-foot-10 inch power forward from UCLA and the draft's fifth overall pick by the Grizzlies, went to Minnesota along with shooting guard Mike Miller and forwards Brian Cardinal and Jason Collins. Both Love and Mayo were freshmen last college basketball season.

LONDON, June 27 (UPI) -- The sailing venue for the Beijing Olympic Games is threatened of being clogged by an algae outbreak, Chinese officials admitted. The report by The Telegraph in London said that Qingdao Bay has been hit by the worst algae blight in living memory. The environmental problem has forced officials to order an emergency cleanup of threatened regatta routes.
Spinach-sized clumps of algae have prevented row boats to cross the bay located on the western edge of the polluted Yellow Sea. About 1,000 fishing boats are being used to scoop up the algae and the Qingdao Weather Bureau says warmer waters, increased rainfall and high levels of nutrients in the ocean brought about the algae explosion along vast stretches of the 500-mile coastline.
