American U.'s Jeff Jones gets new contract

American University Thursday announced the signing of men's basketball Coach Jeff Jones to a new contract.

Details were not provided, but Athletic Director Keith Gill said the contract assures that Jones will be an Eagle for a long time.

Jones led the Washington school to the Patriot League title and its first appearance in the NCAA Division 1 Tournament last season.

I am very proud to stand up here today as the head coach of American University's men's basketball team, Jones said after his contract was announced. I very much look forward to continuing to build a winning tradition here.
