NASCAR hands down two probations

Sprint Cup drivers Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch both received six-race probations Wednesday after an incident at last weekend's Sharpie 500.

In a statement about the incident at the Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, NASCAR said they violated Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing; hitting another competitor's car after the race had concluded) of the 2008 NASCAR rule book.

Unhappy with the way Edwards passed him for the lead, Busch bumped Edwards' No. 99 Ford after the checkered flag.

Edwards bumped back, and Busch's No. 18 Toyota went spinning.

They keep talking about rivalries, said Edwards said. We might have one now.

He'll always come back and says he's sorry, Busch said. He did it at Milwaukee and he's done it a few other times. It's just his normal fashion.

Edwards won the race and Busch finished second.

Busch kept his lead in the Sprint Cup standings, 212 points ahead of Edwards.
