Hayes, Humphrey on hall nomination listWide receiver Bob Hayes and defensive lineman Claude Humphrey have been selected 2009 senior nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Hayes and Humphrey will be part of a Hall of Fame nomination slate that will include 15 modern-era candidates, the Hall of Fame said Wednesday in a release. The Hall of Fame selection meeting is set for Jan. 31, in Tampa, Fla. To be elected to the hall, a candidate must receive support from 80 percent of the electors. The class is to be inducted next Aug. 8. Hayes played for the Dallas Cowboys from 1965-74 and the San Francisco 49ers in 1975. He was a track star who won the 100 meters in the 1964 Olympics and then switched to football. He had 371 receptions for 7,414 yards and 71 touchdowns in his NFL career. Humphrey, a three time modern-era finalist for the hall, was the NFL defensive rookie of the year in 1968. He is unofficially credited with 122 career sacks, which wasn't an official statistics until 1982 -- the year after Humphrey retired -- and was selected for six Pro Bowls.
