Instant replay for disputed home run calls begins Thursday in Major League Baseball.

The system was announced on Tuesday by Commissioner Bud Selig after a 25-5 vote by team owners last November.

It also will be used on a limited basis during the post-season playoffs.

I believe this is right, Selig said at a news conference. The evidence (for using it) became overwhelming the more I looked at ballparks. You've got an umpire running out and he's 300-400 feet away. I think the umpires believe it. I think the players believe it.

I don't like it, Detroit Tigers left-hander Kenny Rogers said. Just because, what, in a Yankee game someone didn't get a homer? Please. It's happened thousands of times. That's part of the game.

Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was robbed of a homer in a game earlier this season when the call was overturned.
