British sailors are aiming for a gold medal sweep of every sailing race class at the 2012 Olympics, the BBC reported Thursday.

The 2012 Summer Games will take place in London, and the British team hopes it will have a home advantage like China in gymnastics at the recently concluded Beijing Games.

Also at Beijing, Great Britain topped the sailing medals table, winning four golds, one silver and a bronze.

You can't say we will win one in every class because there are so many variables in the sport that we do, gold medalist sailor Andrew Simpson told the BBC in London. It was a huge achievement (in Beijing) and we will be looking to build on it. In all the classes in China, we had sailors in the medal race, so it shows what we can do. The next challenge is the Americas Cup and I'm going to work the 2012 plans around that.
