NFL: Kansas City 21, St. Louis 17Kolby Smith ran for two touchdowns in the first period Thursday and the Kansas City Chiefs held on to defeat St. Louis 21-17 in a pe-season contest. The game was delayed at the start for 90 minutes by severe thunderstorms. Smith scored on runs of 14 and four yards to give the Chiefs a 14-3 lead and Damon Huard added to the advantage by hitting Bobby Sippio with an 11-yard pass early in the second period. St. Louis cut its deficit on a Brock Berlin-to-Dane Looker pass of 20 yards with 10 seconds left in the half. Lance Ball scored on a two-yard run on the second play of the fourth quarter that brought the Rams within four, but their three remaining possessions ended with two punts and an interception.
