Former U.S. Open women's winner Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia suffered a 3-6, 6-7 (1-7), 6-3 third round loss at this season's tournament Friday.

The women's third seed joined top-seeded Ana Ivanovic on the sidelines after losing to Slovenia's Katarina Srebotnik.

Kuznetsova, a three-time Grand Slam finalist, lost on Srebotnik's third match point when she misfired long on one final return.

Kuznetsova lost to retired Belgian Justine Henin in last year's U.S. Open final and won it in 2004.

I don't know what to say, my voice is still shaky, Srebotnik said in an on-court interview after her second upset win this season.

In June, she knocked off Serena Williams in straight sets in a third round match at the French Open.

Other women's winners Friday included second-seeded Elena Jankovic and Olympic gold medalist Elena Dementieva.
