Tiger Woods said he intends to play in next month's Buick Open in Michigan, despite the looming arrival of his first child.

The defending Buick Open champion said that while he and his wife are expecting their first child in July, he intends on defending his title during the June 25-July 1 event, The Detroit News reported.

Next up for Woods, who has been victorious nine times in the last 13 PGA Tour events he's played in, is next week's Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.

Two weeks after that event, Woods is to take part in the U.S. Open, the golf year's second major tournament.

Woods acknowledged to the News that his impending fatherhood would greatly change his life.

Family comes first, he told the newspaper. Golf will be secondary. Everybody knows I don't sleep. I guess I get all the night duties.
